New struts not working out...
I just got a set of new kyb struts, and was trying to mount them in shop today but couldn't get it to sit right.
The previous owner put some crappy lowering springs on the car, which caused the struts to go out pretty bad. It actually had some "things" I don't know exactly what they were In the spring to raise it up a little bit?? Now, when I put the new struts in with the existing springs, when I lowered the car off the lift the strut just lifted up through the hole. Yes, Everything was tightened down.
The dust boot was completely mangled from before. I tried putting the strut in without the boot, and I put it in with it there. Same results each time.
What am I missing here? Do I just need to get some better springs?

They're not the adjustable ones, so I think they're the GR-2. But I only paid $120 for the new set of 4, so if they fit, but only last a little while, I'll just buy koni's at that point.
I have gr2's with h&r lowering springs on my teg. No problems for the past 17,000 miles. I'm just waiting for them to blow. When they do, I'm switching over to a koni/gc setup. Get neuspeed sport lowering springs. They are the same as h&r sports except much cheaper.

It's only a small difference, so I figure if it'll work, I'll just go with the coilovers instead of spending the money twice.

A little cheaper for the springs here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEUSP...Q5fAccessories
IMHO I would just go with the ground controls for the extra $. Back when I was looking at neuspeed springs I could find them for $100 with free shipping. I guess as with everything, prices went up. Good Luck with everything.

DING DING DING! OP any other spring will not fix your problem. The problem is that you forgot to install the bumpstop plate after you put the bumpstop on the shock piston. This is a funny looking washer with a beveled hole to match the bevel on the shock piston, and is what keeps the piston from poking up through the mount when it's all bolted onto the car.

I have all of the washers in, but I think it might not be holding up. Does autozone sell these? Or am I going to have to go to a stealership?

I have never seen an OEM Honda bumpstop plate fail. They're not a normal washer. They're THICK arond the middle are with the tapered hole.
Likely have to order them from a dealer or online. My bet is you forgot to put it on the shock piston.

If you did install the bump stop plate and they did fail, maybe you installed them upside down where the taper in the washer and shock piston didn't match up.
