Engine swap advice.
I have a B20/Vtec motor I want to swap into my Teg.
I was quoted by a mechanic that my engine swap would be $1,500, because it would take roughly 20-21 hours of labor....
All that needs done is putting the GSR head on the B20. He has everything needed to do the swap/install.
I personally feel like I am getting raped by him.
Is this price way too high, or is this what I should expect to pay anywhere?

A bit too much i'd say. b20/ls vtecs are ticking time bombs if not done right, and its more involved than a stock engine swap, so a pro can charge a bit more, but $1500 is kinda crazy. Shop around, find a pro to do it for around $1000. On this swap it'd be nice to have professional reassurance.
That a bit too much, i just got my b20 swaped in for only 300 couple days ago right at my house. And it took about 10-12 hours to get it done and running. And i had a shop to quote me for 500.
is the motor in the car? so all it needs is the head swap right? if so thats way to much! get the head taped get the head gasket and oil conversion kit and head studs and have someone who knows what there doing install it! id say forget that and swap a gsr or ITR motor! get vtec without the stress of having that combo cause they dont usually last to long. you get a bit more torque but what good does that do when the motor will break down twice as fast as a used b series motor. a couple of mods on a ITR motor and that thing will feel way faster than a b20 vtec! trust me but its up to you.
**** Rape with out lube sir.
As other(s) have said, find a friend or make friends with someone that has the knowledge and tools to do it.
I've heard quotes for putting in an entire motor for less. These from reputible shops mind you. Granted b20 vtec or ls vtec is not just a drop in swap like an itr motor. I cant see $1500 for the whole deal though.
I'd help you if you were closer.

a gsr swap, depending on what all is done should take somewhere around six hours on the low side to 12ish on the high if they have to swap the oil pump and cfs
if you have an ls it's going into and wiring needs to be done add a couple more
still i would always prefer a gsr engine over an lsv or b20v

Thanks for all teh replies guys!
To clear things up, the B20/Vtec motor is out of the car, and the regular LS motor is in the car. I would need the old LS motor taken out, and the new B20/vtec installed. Not just putting the GSR head on the engine in the car already Sorry if I wasn't clear.
Also, if I do HAPPEN to attempt to tackle this myself, where would I find some good guides/how to's to help me along my journey?
