Default Dizzy problems!! 1998 ex sohc

lately my ek has been like struggling a little bit when i hit the gas. ive had this problem before on my eg and it was the coil. so when i open up the dizzy indeed the coil(TEC) was all burnt up. so i swap it with a brand new one(BWD) i had laying around. i go to test drive it around the block and it start worse than before struggling and hestition around 3k-4k and 8k+.

question:
can a coil go bad from sitting around in a garage?? (since october been sitting around)
what else can be cuasing the problem??
is there a difference between TEC and BWD coil??

The FAQs sticky has a diagram for testing the coil. And definitely consider the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Additionally have the ICM inside the distributor tested at an auto parts store.
