Default cel light stuck on

hi guys, this is my first post so youl have to bear with me, i have got a 93 del sol dohc. i recently bought a socketed p28 ecu off my mate to replace my p30 and bought a chip which had been set up to my engine, it has been working fine for 2 weeks then the other day my cel light came on and it was running VERY badly, it sounded like it was trying to suck lots of air and also using los of fuel. i checked for the cel code and it was solid which after reading on here is bad ecu, but the ecu has been running fine for 3 years with a crome chip in. i reset the ecu and car run fine for 5 mins then light came on again. it seems like an electrical problem because some times i turn it on and it keeps buzzing (not fuel pump something else). also once when ideling with light on it flicks on and off with a clicking sound? please would someone be able to help me because i hve not got a clue what it is

thanks, ryan

Did you buy one of those Ebay chips? If you did that is your problem. If not then all you're running on is a baseline and you should have gotten a better tune. Why did you replace the P30 in the first place. Is the the ECU with the CROME tune on it?

Sorry but your post is a bit confusing as it sounds like you're talking about 3 different ECUs.

the chip i bought is dyno tuned to a car with the same mods as mine but with launch control, shift light etc. i replaced the p30 because my mate had a socketed ecu which had a crome chip in but when the tuner took it out to swap for mine he bent a pin. the chip was effective as it took it from 160 bhp to 203 bhp after the tuner done the timing etc. i have contacted the person who sold me the chip and he assures me he has never had a chip go "bad"... but he would say that

Well the test would be to swap in a different ECU to see if you still have the issue.

cut the jumper on the j1 position on your ecu if you want it back to stock. Sounds like someone did not know how to put the chip in correctly and solder the board

I ran mine with a p30 as well for a long time with no problems. I was wondering this as well

What do you have done to your car that requires you to get it "chipped"?

-Start by cleaning and tightening the important G101 ground wire attached to the thermostat housing.

-Resolder the main relay.

-Make sure hood fuse 31 and dash fuse 24 are firmly seated.

-Check for a short in the service connector wire from the ECU.
