Default Issues with used jdm motor

Okay, so basically i purchased a used jdm b16a motor from tigerjapanese. I recieved the motor on a pallet wrapped in plastic wrap etc looks good right?

Well.. I go to drain the oil and about 20 ounces of water comes pouring out, and following that a bunch of pretty nasty looking oil.

SO I called up tiger and spoke with a gentleman that said new oil and spark plugs and i would be good to go and there would be no problems.

Now everyone I have talked to personally says its probably junk etc.

wat do

Get angry. If I'd spent that much on a motor, I wouldn't want to "settle" That's why you bought a JDM motor more than likely is to get less miles, and take the guess work out of what might go wrong like if you would have bought a swap from Joe Schmoe on craigslist.

Get angry.

Setup a return freight shipping with the company, have them pay for it, and ship it back to them. That's bullsh!t. That motor has a failed head gasket, or worse.

I brought a couple motors from tiger japanese and has never had a problem with them. But after finding a thread here ----->http://www.hondamarketplace.com/show...php?t=2581123I in the honda-tech market place, I'm starting to think I was one of the lucky few.

Send it back, at their expense. Water and internals don't like each other. You are going to end up with problems if you decide to settle.

If it was me i'd send it back. I know I wouldn't want it, and definitely wouldn't trust it.

if you paid with your credit card, file a chargeback claim. worst case, you pay for return shipping.

This is a reason I ALWAYS buy from hmotorsonline.com, send that crap back and buy from trusted and renowned sources!

Something else I see often, enthusiasts will often buy the most expensive engine they have cash for and don't have any reserve for replacement parts, they just roll the dice hoping they don't have to replace anything.

I could have easily bought a Type R engine but I bought a B18C and I had to replace the distributor and clutch. Things I always replace regardless are the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, valve cover gasket and grommets plugs and wires, belts and hoses and I have money reserved for little issues that may come up.

When I did my swap at the local DIY auto garage the on site mechanic was totally blown away with everything I was replacing.

I wouldn't want it. Got to think of (1) how it got there and (2) what damage it did being there.

Glad I got lucky and found the engine I wanted locally, test drove it in the original car, watched the owner finish pulling it from the original car and drove home with it.

Def send it back at their expense, this isnt the first time ive heard tigerjapanese messing up and sending sketchy motors. a friend of mine bought an H23A from them and they decided to skip out on including a lot of the extra parts that should have been included with the order. try tokyomotorimports.

my friend bought a b20 from them to build a b20 vtec, he took it apart and one of the cylinders had a little crack in it, he took pictures of it and emailed them to the company and explained the situation and they sent him another one, didnt even have to send the old one back.

I hop you paid by credit card, charge it back. Osaka has had a horrible reputation years ago, they have done business under different names too. I don;t care if I have to pay a few hundred more with HMO, at least I know I won't be left hanging.
