92 Honda LX Shifter Issue (manual)
On my 92 Honda accord LX f22 stock powertrain i have about 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches of play forward and backwards on the shifter inside the car. I have traced it to the cables where they are attached at the trans. The cables outside of the transmission are working fine. The play is internally in the transmission. The two swing arms that the cables connect to are on a box that you can unbolt. Just want to know (1) if anyone has had this problem (2) has a solution (3) is there a chance if i take the swing arm 'box' off the trans to see what going on inside, is there a chance that something will fall into the transmission?

Are you certain the play is inside the transmission? Have you removed the shift cables from the transmission?
To answer your question, no. You can remove the piece you are talking about. You'll see how the levers contact the shift forks.
Make certain the play is actually inside the trans before you rip it apart.
