Drivers Side Window-2000 Civic
I have a 2000 Civic, and the window moves slowly when lifting up on the power window button. If I lower the window all the way down, it gets stuck at about the half way point and I have to physically pull up on the window to get it to go all the way up. I had a '96 Accord a few years ago and it had the same problem until it permanently got stuck. It turned out to be the master switch for the power windows. Could my Civic need the same part replaced or could it be something else? Thanks.
This is a common problem on these cars.
The problem often seems to arise from window tracks that are no longer lubricated. You can lubricate these tracks by rolling the window at least part of the way down and then spray silicone spray down the tracks on either side of the glass. Them roll the window up and down several times to spread the lubricant.
These tracks not being lubricated can make it difficult to roll up the window (friction), which puts stress on the regulator ("scissors"). This can cause the regulator to bend, which would mean it needs to be replaced.
In time the regulator bending can cause the window motor to burn out as well, which means you'd need to replace the motor.
