i got this mammy down motor and
its it is possibke that it has rust around the cylinders..
is it still ok to use..?
i mean for like 4 years in a carport in
the desert//?
should it fire up still.. ?

no, if you can, take the head off and take the pistons out, inspect the pistons for rust on the rings and take a grey scotch pad and barely run over the cylinder walls and use motor oil while doing this, then clean the run off
Why would it have rust in it? was the head off? did it get water inside? did they just tell you it was rusty? More info as to what the cause could be for you to make this conclusion
drip some oil in there and rotate the engine crank a few times. should be fine if no water was to ever rained inside the engine and still has compression
Do this! On any engine that has been sitting or has been freshly rebuilt/built, you add oil to cylinders to 'prime' the rings. Without doing this it will be bare metal to metal and may break the ring or score the cylinder wall. Use about 1 full cap full of oil (cap from standard oil bottle).

when I rebuilt my d15 there was rust in the clyinders. just get an attachment for a drill at harbor freight. its spring loaded to fit any cylinder and it hones the cylinder
