Timing help please
So mechanic put a new timing belt on my d16y7. When I took it home I head a light metallic sound. I thought it was my exhaust bolt because I had two new ones put in. Long story short my belt is retarded 1 tooth. So it's causing detination in my cylinder. My mechanic won't fix it till thur. Will driving it like this hurt my engine?! I just have to take the car to work.
He didn't know he thought it was good and you can't hear it at idle. Hr just pulled it out the bay. It's when it's under pressure if you want to call it that. Such as going up hill and bogging down you can hear it
the d16 compression is low enogh to where even if the timing is off theres no danger of it touching the piston... so aside from crappy power it shouldnt affect anything. good luck man!
Ok that's good. I don't think its off enough to hit the valve but at least I really don't have to worry about it now. I am just worried it'll hurt the valve.
