Finally got new clutch installed, but now, speedo is going nuts.
Well the good news is, I have a new clutch, and my tranny now shifts like butter again. The bad news is, my speedometer is out of control, and bounces around like crazy. Also, my trip meter isn't accurate. Today, I took a drive that was probably around 5 miles, and the trip meter read 15.
I'm not super worried, because I've seen this happen before, and it obviously is related to the recent clutch change, but I'm not sure exactly what/where to check. Vehicle Speed Sensor? What exactly am I looking for?

Then check the connector for the VSS. You should be able to see it connected to your speed sensor. Just unplug it and look for corrosion inside of it.

But It was easier than I thought, which is why I was confused. It was that connector.. Was just a tad lose. Very surprised it was that simple.. I took it for a 10 minute drive and the speedo worked perfectly, and it was messing up almost all the time before, So I think we're good.
Thanks for the help, mouab18c1. It was almost too simple!
Edit: Problem not fixed. Seems to be OK when I first drive the car, and as long as I take it real easy.. Could also be coincidence, but it seems like it starts going nuts when I accelerate harder.. I'm gonna mess around with it this afternoon.
Probably because it isn't making a snug connection somewhere.
OK so I THINK I've figured it out this time. Checked the VSS connector and it looked fine.. But I just removed my intake and grabbed the connector, and it wasn't even connected. They were together, but like someone mentioned, they weren't snapped together.
That plastic part that actually snaps the two pieces together isn't functioning properly.. But that's a pretty minor deal. I was finally able to snap it on and it felt real snug. Took it for about a 15 minute drive, and it was fine.. Every other time, it has messed up well before 15 minutes. Would be shocked if that wasn't the problem.
Anyways, thank you all for you input. Wouldn't have been able to zero in on the VSS connector without you guys.

Check the wiring at the connector, I've seen quite a few where they corroded and will get erratic signal. Corroded wire looks greenish if that's the case splice in a new connector.
Another thing you can do is actually pull the sensor out and see if there is build up on the sensor itself. That is rare but has caused problems to.
