Default speedometer going nuts

Allright, I recently did a clutch install on my 92 si, and just got it running yesterday. The new clutch is great, I love it, but now I am having a problem with my speedometer working correctly. It registers speed, but anywhere between 60-120 mph the thing goes crazy bouncing back and forth. it once registered 110 when I was in second gear, too. Before the clutch job, it worked ust fine. Any ideas what could be going on here?

make sure to check the connection of the VSS (variable speed sensor) also check to make sure it is properly seated if not it can cause problems. If that seems to be ok , then you might have a electrical problem. How many miles are on the car and have you had any work dont in the dash area where the speedo might have been removed?

Is the variable speed sensor on the wheels near the brakes?? If thats not it, where can I find it at? I tried to look at that, but I can't see it unless I take the wheel off and I don't really have time to do it right now.

As far as I know, no work has been done to where the speedometer hooks up in the dash, besides what I have done myself but it worked just fine before the clutch job. I am the second owner of the car and the lady I bought it from gave me all the paperwork to it, including routine maintenance records. It has 113k miles on it. I will check that sensor as soon as I have the time. Thanks!!

You obviously didnt change the clutch, cause you have to disconnect it to drop the transmission. I would suggest to you, take the car back to the place you had do the clutch. Tell them your speed senser is fuked, fix it!

Gude, I was replying to cottonwoodz post- he was implying that I took it to a shop and I wanted to clear up that I did not. I won't take my car to a shop for the simple reason that I don't really trust them and I like doing stuff myself. Anyway, thanks a bunch for the diagram. I will check that tomorrow when I wake up!!

when you are checking it, also look to see it the connecting tab (where the bolt goes) is broken or cracked. VSS's have a tendency to break of some how
