HID low beam question
I have a 90 integra with the stock headlights that only have one bulb that can switch from hi to low beam. ive never seen an hid kit that can cycle between the two, so my question is has anyone ran only the hid low beam, and is it sufficient for night driving?
I run the 9004 replacement HIDs without highs and i can see perfect. I have 35w 6k HIDs,i use to run the 35w 10k with the high-beams but they wore to blue for me.
This is what you would want if you want the highs to work,i just had the ones with the non HID high.

yeah i figured id be okay... dont wanna get into any of those bi xeons (too expensive for my taste lol) or any of that projector retrofit stuff. i figured id be okay with the hid lows and if needed ill have some extra light from the fogs. thanks alot.
So instead of doing it correctly and trying to retrofit a projector, you'd rather blind other drivers?
And here is my DIY retro fitting the OE lights on the G2. Not going to be a clear cutoff, but it will look way better and wont blind drivers

You will blind people. I had low beam 6k hid's in 98 integra projector headlights. The were extremely bright even with the factory projectors. I got sick of other drivers flicking their high beams at me so I just got rid of them.
theres a difference between blinding people to a dangerous extent and having bright lights that **** people off sometimes. personally, i find that every new car i see has low beams that are questionably bright as older cars' high beams.
It all depends in the output wattage of the HIDs,the higher you go,the brighter they become. I ran at one point,50w 8 Kalvin HIDs and they wore bright as hell, but i blinded everyone till i got stopped and got a ticket for having high beams on.
IMO,the best type of HIDs to use in a stock housing is the 35w 6 Kalvin's,but the stock "flukes" are still going to disperse the lighting. I did a OE retro fit and i still have the glare, but its not all that bad anymore.

I think it would be just as annoying as lifted trucks, here in SC they dont bother adjusting their lights back to the ground and lift the truck 4+ inches.... Everything blinds me though, I believe I'm partly night blind and sensitive to light at night but every optometrist I go to says it normal to have difficulty driving at night... Maybe they just suck at driving because most are women, sorry for the sexist comment.

This means adjusting your side view mirrors out so they view the next lane over instead of behind you. Easily done and keeps the light out of your eyes.
Going to put my 2 cents to this. I have a 90 DA coupe with stock headlights and with the glare guard still in place. I bought a set of low beam HID's at 6k. I drive mainly at night and have never experienced an oncoming driver flashing their high beams at me. I was cautious with this set up and wanted to prevent that from ever happening, I readjusted the beam a little lower than stock. As compared to normal halogens, I have not experienced any loss of light coverage, in fact quite the opposite. I have improved light coverage and distance as well as seeing traffic signs clearly. To better this I would obviously have to install the projector mod and buy the duals. But for what I have currently, I am 100% pleased with the set up.
