They are about the same chassis wise. There are alot of subtle differences though. They will both drive almost identical just the styling would be different.

Yes, the 5th Gen has the Hub Over Rotor setup as the 4th Gen. You can just get the TASauto ROH conv and be done with and will never have to deal with trap rotors ever again once you converted it. I preferr my 5th Gen, but I've seen some nice *** 4th Gen as well.

yep, h22 swap is as easy as it gets. something like 50 horsepower for 1000 bucks, cant go wrong, and way more fun.

It'll be more than a $1000.00 dollars for a complete swap, but yes for an H22A long block. To get the full potential of the H22 engine, you'd need an H22 trans; otherwise, it's slow if you go with an F22 trans(long gears).

Also, maintenance work will need to be consider as the engine is sitting there and very easy to get to things such as timing belt, water pump, h23 manual tensioner conv(auto tensioner sucks a$$), thermostat, front & rear main seals, new clutch kit along with a nice decent flywheel, etc. All these will add up quick and definitely will cost more than a grand.

Your right to a point. I see complete swaps for 800-1100 a lot, some with header/ecu/trans... complete. I have one sitting in my dining room for that reason, they are cheap and you can get good deals.
As far as everything he could do thats up to him. Some of it is smart but its not mandatory and whos to say he cant find a good swap and that some/all of it may be unnecessary. Its possible but hes right your probably looking at 1500 give or take. Upgrade stuff later, just getting the swap is a whole world of difference and you'll be happy.
