Does anyone know whats going on... I recently replace my head gasket on my b16a2. But before I replace the gasket, I notice that there was a leak of coolant running down the oil pan. I thought to myself that maybe the water pump is bad so I replace the unit with an new water pump. I'm done with replacing the water pump, the head gasket and replace the thermostat. I went to start up the car and watch if it was still leaking. I can only see the top part of the water pump, the timing cover is blocking the rest. I dont know why its leaking again when i replaced it, or even if it is the water pump. i looked all round to see what could cause the leak, but the only thing i can think of is the water pump.

Did you scrape the block and get all the old gasket off could you possibly have missed a spot? and did you use sealer on the gasket?

The only thing I would try is taking off stuff that is in the way until you can get good look and see where the leak is coming from.

Did you check all the hose connections maybe there is a pin hole in a hose near a clamp, if that is the case push the hose on further, or cut a small piece off and re-clamp it anything is better than taking it apart again.

 

There are fluorescent dyes used to trace leaks - maybe worth a try?

 

Change the pump!

 

Yeah you should change the pump. Also check the radiator hoses and the coolant while you're at it.
