If the pump is flowing fine then it's the gasket. Or it could be the pipe the feeds the pump, if that leaks hen **** runs down the back side of the pump and comes out the bottom. So it could be that o-ring or the wp gasket itself.

i would not use any, the orings they supply are really nice (i take it you are using oem honda parts). i would recommend you building you a crank pulley bar. it's a must to get that off (or was in my case). I tried everything (including a 1" impact gun on 200psi), and a 7' piece of pipe on a breaker bar with the pulley brace was how i finally got it off. and it sounds like the seal itself on your water pump is leaking (it leaks toward the firewall right at the pump). oh yeah, we used a inch and a half piece of angle iron about 4' long and marked the holes in the crank pulley, it was simple to make.

of course it would be a good time to replace the timing belt and the idler pulley while you are in there good luck!

It deffiantly sounds like the gasket. If you use anything on it go to the dealer and get the honda bond its the factory type gray sealant.

the water pump has a "weep" hole out the bottom to keep the seal leaking toward the ground and not all into the timing belt cover. look for that weep hole and you will be able to tell if it's the gasket or the pump shaft seal itself. either way i would change both while i was in there.

Do not use any honda bond or any silicone. What is the point when there is a gasket on it that works just fine.

I work in a honda dealer and do pump often enough-never use any silicone and never have an issue.
