I had a 1992 Honda Civic SI. If you want to go pretty fast but don't want to spend tons of money, then go ahead and turbo your d16z6. Assuming it's healthy, it can make good power on a cheap setup as long as you have a good tune. I put a cheap *** turbo kit and tuned it on 8 psi with Chrome and it made 213 hp to the wheels. Pretty good considering it was completely stock with 260000 miles. I drove it for a couple thousand miles with no problems, and I didn't drive it like a granny. Here are some pics. Bad wheel choice, I know.

If you have the money i would def go for the B18C1, that is if you can find one.

the motor swap while more expensive can give you close to the same amount of HP as a turbo'd stock block d16z6 but be MUCH more reliable while doing it.

ive seen this car a few times before out in vville.. used to sit up at powerhouse

as for the OP.. id go with a GSR, thats what i have in my del sol and i LOVE it.. itll be quick enough then you can save money and build it like im doing and turn HUGE numbers lol!

i mean ive beat a S2000 with unknown mods, b20vtec integra, h22 hatches, and all kinds of other cars.. gsr's with a few mods and a tune are monsters IMO.. all i had was noname SRI, ITR header, buddyclub exhaust, cat delete, OG skunk2 cam gears and i had 165 @ the wheels.. 30 more hp at the wheels from stock.. b18's respond to mods alot better than b16's and D series is just janky and fall apart too much

i'd put the money into a cheetah fur upholstered living room set. definitely has more of an awesome factor than a 150whp economy car.

seriously, how bout put on the big boy pants and make a decision? ..and leave us out of it.

If I had a $3500 budget, i would go with a b swap. With that kind of money you can go b16 turbo and make very nice power.

Ehh why would you say b16s dont respond well to bolt ons when the head flows nearly the same as a gsr, so your saying d-series just fall apart? you must only know ricers. i can understand displacement argument but horsepower isnt all that is needed to have a fast car

b18's respond better to mods because of displacement.. i had just about the same mods as one of my friends B16's had and i gained more power from the few mods i had than he did..

as for D's being janky.. ive seen quite a few "built" d series engines and they required more maintinance and repair than ALOT of the b series builds ive seen.. B > D any day, just saying

honestly, i love b16b's just because you dont see many around, but gsr's are great engines i have one and LOVE it.. if you plan on going all motor i say b16b/b18c5, if you want to boost and make big numbers go b18c1.. just my $0.02

vroom vroom? wtf. Anyways, I would swap in a B18C1. They are much cheaper than type r's. and they are a great motor with plenty of potential. It's probably going to last a lot longer than a boosted d series too. or did you plan on boosting the b18 also?
