d16z6 build. Honda newbie.
Hello,
I am currently doing a d16z6 swap into my 1974 Innocenti Mini Cooper. The motor has about 40,000 miles on it. I have never worked with Honda motors (or any Jap motors for that matter). From what I have read, stock a d16z6 is capable of 150bhp with bolt ons (let me know if i'm wrong, I honestly am not sure). While that will be a fun amount of power in a car that weighs just under 1,300 lbs, I am looking for a little more... say 200-250bhp. Forced induction is an obvious choice, but Im not sure what these motors can handle with stock internals. I would prefer to run a low boost with minimal sacrifice in reliability. Im open to any and all suggestions.
Any turbo kit suggestions/turbo component suggestions or any tuning suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The motor is out of the car atm, so if it isnt to pricey (around $1500), i will do the build before I put it in the car. Thanks!

You can easily and safely push 200 to the wheels out of that motor without having to crack it open. Also, if you toss a mild head package in it, you can up your rev limit a hair for a wider powerband. 150 from stock internals without some form of FI would be...well, I won't say it's impossible, but it's not really a fiscally responsible decision.

I'm personally a fan of a 15G, or a Disco Potato. Had a 15G on my old turbo D, and it gave me an amazingly flat power curve up to just shy of redline, and had no problem getting to 10 PSI by 3k.
Are you building this Mini as a racer, or just a fun project DD?

Just a fun DD sleeper project. The motor blew its 3rd head gasket because the head is pretty warped, so I figured it was time for a modern, reliable power plant. Here's a few pics of 'Nigel'
