Plan to swap 96 b18b1 into my 99 Si - Need help with wire harness and ECU questions
I have a 1999 civic si (canadian, so d16y8). I am planning on putting a 1996 b18b1 in it this winter. I am wondering where my car is OBD2b will it match up to the OBD2a in the b18, or do I need a conversion harness?
Also do I use the stock 99 si harness and ecu and just change the distributer plug? And is there any other wiring that will need to be changed?
I know this has probally been asked a million times, but i have had a hard time finding a direct answer. I have never done a swap before. Sorry about the repost everyone!
Thanks for your time,
Jacob

ive gotta ask: why a ls swap? power gain is minimal, tq is not very significant. if youre going to put yourself thru it, AT LEAST go b16.
i assume your car has a manual transmission? anyway, you can use your stock obd2b harness and use an obd2b LS computer. u may have to splice on a new clip for a couple things but its not hard. dont forget axles, mounts, transmission and shift linkage. good luck

he has his reasons...maybe it was cheap? maybe he wants to turbo? maybe he wants to do an LS/VTEC? maybe thats all he could find? maybe cuz b16 have no torque and he wanted torque?

Dammit. Someone give ME a swap for free. I live in Oak Ridge TN. I'd swap that in and boost it.
