Rebuild D16Z6 or swap in a B16?
Would i be better off to rebuild my d16z6,94 si(canada)(ej1)..Or look at putting a b16 or something in it? Any opinion or information on swaps will help! THanks!

depends on ur plan if u wanna go boosted id say rebuild the z6 and boost and make 300+hp easily or swap to a b16 with barely 160hp and only able to push 300hp on a stock block. take ur pick.... d series dont make much more then 160-170hp N/A built. if ur talking about rebuild it to stock internals for the z6 id say that's a waste of time and money and your better off swapping a b16. you should be more specific.

+1 if you want to rebuild to rebuild just do that instead of waste money on a b16 swap.. but if your looking for a motor to build or race out go b-series. bigger displacement, head flows better, shorter geared trans ETC. but if its a case of rebuild a stock motor vs swap in a b16 - the d16z6 is almost the same as a b16 you wouldnt tell the difference until 6k+ and it only feels fast because of super short gearing which means it will stay above vtec in its (power band) rebuild $500 ish > swap 2500,3000
Why are you contemplating the rebuild/swap? I swear these questions seem to just be a way of getting a first post in. NO one knows what you are trying to accomplish. You have not stated what the end goal is supposed to be. It's like asking who would win in a fight: Batman or Wolverine?
Sorry Iam New to this hondatech thing..Well my main goal is to have a reliable street/ drag car,,my d16z6 is about to let go,314kms,iam pretty sure i will be boosting either engine i decide to play with,(eventually),im new to the honda scene,,my father is a mechanic so i will have some knowledge helping me either rebuild or do the swap,,the b16b is rated at 185HP,,but for the price of the engine and swap essentials..would it not be close to the same price to rebuild the d16z6 with performance pistons and everything and buy a turbo kit? i have also thought about just buying a honda that has already bin done up..but i love my car to much to not want to build it

good luck whichever you decide on going with
buying already built cars isn't the greatest idea. you have no idea how well they did or if they even started it after the rebuild don't do that.
either way with the amount you spend on a B if you just want a quick lil car you can fully rebuild the D and turbo it no problem. up to like 350. you can go higher it'll just get more unreliable. and harder to drive.

I myself would build the D16Z6 since you already have the motor. That way all your money goes into buying performance parts or what not and you get the experience of actually working on a motor rather then spending all the money that you have on a motor.
it depends on how much money you have, and how much power you want. if you want to do it on a budget, you are probably better off building up your d16z6. if you have $3k-$4k, then a b16 is a better option, and you can improve the b16 from there (ECU, turbo, ect). however if you do decide to swap the engine, it is suggested that you replace the timing belt, and water pump. a lot of research goes into swapping a motor (which motor to get, mounts, tranny, ecu, ect). when/if i swap a b16 into my del sol, i want to rebuild the b16 before i put it in the car so i know that the motor would work like new. (replace bearings, machine head, ect). you can do things like a cat-back exhaust and a cold air intake, and you could transfer those parts to a new motor. how much power are you looking for?
Thanks for the replys! it is really helping me to decide about keeping this car and building my engine, the body is mint other than very little rust,it will be my first build and cant wait to start it! Ive been doing lots of research about hondas and different posibilities of different engine swaps But if i can Rebuild/boost my sohc for the same price, then Iam all for It!! Iam looking for at least 200 whp..
building a d series with pistons and rods and a stock head with the right turbo can net 300+hp.... ive never hit the dyno yet but i know my stock block with 120k on it is pushing near 200hp easily for 2 years no problem. the block alone can take up to 400hp with no sleeves and a built forged bottom end. the head can go to 300hp with a stock cam before it needs work. your goal is low id just boost it as it is these blocks are a dime a dozen and can take alot of abuse. u can rebuild one on the side for a replacement and turn the boost up.
thats awsome, makes me even more excited, i said rods is because ive herd they are the weakest point on this engine when gaining horsepower,,ive bin trying to find an engine with some low km so i can put that in while i build my original..but it looks like im going to be parking ii for a month while i do everything,,i live in canada and im having troubles finding a low km d16z6.
in my local area..any opinion on a decent turbo to get?

keep the d series alive!!!!!!!! every one has jumped on the bandwagon going b...thats just being lazy. thats what poor stupid people do. my cousins sohc is 450whp.. time and money will get you far
