Anybody make a air compressor inlet silencer/muffler?
I'm wanting to quiet my compressor down a little. A lot of the noise is through the intake.
I'd like to make something chambered and keep the motor noise down a little.....without starving the pump.
Anybody have any experience with this on the DIY side?
Compressor is a oiled 2 stage 60 gallon quincy.

Intake... not exhaust
This looks like it works...

Looks like most people are saying oil-less air compressors are going to be loud regardless
Does this cut down the noise at all for oil-less compressors?

Yes, finally. I don't have to listen to the old oil-less compressor anymore.
This is what I've done to isolate the intake noise so far. I just ran it up into the attic with 1 1/2 sch 40 pvc. The area of the new pipe is about 4 times that of the inlet into the compressor.
I'll have to watch the heat in the summer up there.....and maybe change out the "flex" for a longer one, but I think it'll work out ok.

Right now it sits on about 3/8" neoprene. I may try to find or add more to it.
