weird fan problem
Coolant was low on an 02 honda accord, car got hot went up into the H driving around a parking lot. Told my gf to pull it over, pop the hood, no fans. Im thinking hmm, low on coolant, temp is in the "H" area, should be enough to kick the fans on. So i let it cool down a bit, throw in coolant, i topped it off when i flushed the rad but didnt wait long enough for the stat to open so thats why it was low, didnt get a chance to add more before we left. I checked all the fuses, and swapped the relay. The only other thing it could be is the switch at the stat right? When she turns the key once onto accessory, the fans twitch/move a bit then stop.. so they have to be getting power atleast.
The radiator fan motor should spin fast. If it moves/twitch and stops, the motor may need to be replaced.
Disconnect the radiator fan switch electrical connector, near the thermostat. Use a piece of wire or small paper clip and jump the the electrical connector (not the thermo-switch), then turn ignition to on. The radiator fan should spin fast, if it doesn't, the fan motor may need to be replaced.
