97 civic cluster issue
ok i got a 97 civic and i am haveing problems with the cluster it acts like it has no power but fuse is good and i tested it and both ends got power but the lights dont work nor the speedo or rpm gauge everythings dead. thanks for the help
i talked to a few om my buddys and they said it sounds like a ground. does any1 know where the dash harness grounds are for the 97 civic or any grounds that interfer with the dash harness? or is there ground wires that connect to back of cluster i can test to see?
i didnt see anything telling me hwere grounds are or tanything about the dash harness. i just seen the fusebox diagram and i am wanting to check the grounds but idk where they all are but ill check the fuses tomm when i star working on it
If the fuses are fine, the next step is to test whether the cluster gets voltage from those three fuses. If so, you would then check the ground wires.
ok i turned key to the 2nd position right be4 crank and the number 15 and 25 fuse have power with running lights on and off but number 30 fuse only has power when you turn the running lights on and headlights but both taps on all three has power

Now check whether the cluster and VSS connectors get voltage from the three fuses:
fuse 15 --> Blk/Yel (corrected) wire in the VSS connector
fuse 25 --> Yel wire in cluster connector (C4)
fuse 30 --> Red/Black wire in cluster connector (C13)

ok i check them and the connectors on the cluster have no power at all and the vss [speed sensor] it has power on the middle wire but was black/yellow and then beside it was a black/white which was pulling ground.
-My mistake. The VSS power wire is indeed Blk/Yel.
i just used a test light i dnt have a meter yet but i just grounded it to a peice of metal under dash and so im guessing theres a short or there is something wrong with the fuse box. i unbolted my fuse box and i didnt see anything undone or anything. should i take the fuse box completly out or what would you recommend in my next step of fixing this. and thanks for your help guess my ground allusion was wrong lol

ok i havent got a meter yet but i tried to run power to the cluster and i have nothing still but i did notice i have a white plug under dash thats un pluged and its with the same bunch of wires that run to cluster ima try to upload the pics of the plug
okay i also checked a few things out that do work on the cluster 1. the battery light 2. the turn signals work but only when lights are off or on dim. if you turn lights on high both the turn signals indicator blink the left and right at same time and so does the high beam indicator.and when lights are on high and blinkers are on the heat hand raises with every blink and if you turn the hazards on the blinkers wont work at all
can someone with a ek prefur dx look and under the dash and see if they have this plug dangling like mine you gotta take the plastic peice off under dash and itsright there above the fuse box
