Default Enkei RPF-1 + BBK fitment..??

yep, so my buddy is parting out his ITR with a VTTR BBK..

im basically getting it for free. the kit itself has less than 1k kms on it since it was installed.. car was sitting the whole time.

this kit.

you guys got any idea or is there anyone out there running a similar BBK set up with their Enkei RPF-1s? just wondering if i need a spacer or not. worse comes to worse, ill have to run longer studs + spacer.

(my specs are 16x7 42+)

thanks guys.

Off-topic, but other than you getting it cheap, why is it that you want this BBK? Do you have a track-only ITR or something?

If your car is a daily, then that kit is complete overkill.

You obviously missed the point.

BBK's do nothing but add weight. They don't necessarily make your car stop any better/quicker unless you have a hardcore track car and beat the living p!ss out of your braking system.

If I were offered a BBK kit, I'd decline it. Or I'd trade it for a set of Spoon Calipers, as those are lighter than the OEM caliper.

Just saying that even though something is cheap, it may not be worth it.

How is a BBK adding weight? Typically the caliper of a BBK is lighter and stronger then the OEM calipers. As for the rotor depending upon the design it might be lighter too. You don't need a track only car to upgrade your brakes either.

Sigh. Are there still that many people left who think a BBK is an "upgrade" on a street car (especially an ITR)?

I guess folks still buy slotted/drilled rotors too, so I guess so...

On an R it is probably unnecessary, you're right. However, it will add value to the car, eliminate brake fade, and look good. And with it being free, or next to free, I honestly don't see why you wouldn't run it. I can see passing if it was $500, but if it's really cheap, I say go for it.

^^^Disagree with adding value on an R. 100% stock R's bring a better price then modded ones. Like Todd mentioned on the street its pointless other look bling factor.

Fade = pad compound. Don't kid yourself.

Plus a BBK forces you to run larger wheels on an ITR (or make other compromises with wheel fitment). Which larger = heavier. And the BBK is usually heavier, as well.

I personally saw an RSX-S lose 7whp on a dyno from the OEM brakes to a BBK. But it looked hella tight though!

So if you were offered a completely free BBK "upgrade" you would decline it? Come on now you know you would accept it as a gift. Anyone would take it for free even if they didn't want to put it on their ITR. Larger wheels aren't always heavier but I am sure you know that as well.

Just take the kit. Then hang your stock caliper in the wheel well with a coat hanger while test fitting all the new parts. This way you don't have to let out the fluid to see if your Enkeis will clear.

if ur getting them for free why not they will add some weight but it will give a nice look to the wheels ..i have a friend that has a ssb bbk on his dd gsr and he loves it he said playin on long high speed trips with hevy braking they are better but the smallest wheel that will fit his is a 17in so u might not be able to run them with ur rims =/

yep. free. costing me nothing. haha. basically new kit.

been running the same warped rotors/ worn pads that came with car... so im bound to replace them.

going to do a bit of weekend lapping during the summer with some friends..

only thing i'd see it as a bad thing is the the possible extra unsprung weight. but i dont see why..

gonna do a test fit and mock up.. then ill report back to you guys..

rpf-1's ftwww!!!

it'll be nice to have better brakes... when I finally get some headwork done to the car... JUN stage III's.. :D
