Default Working on a new toy

I am building a KZ Shifter Cart out of a 1977 KZ750 LTD Twin and an Ultramax dirt oval cart frame.

So far this is what I have:

Started with doing this the other weekend

I did a little work to it Saturday and here is where I got:

Got all of the wiring done and tested. The beast is ALIVE!! I started it up open head and a little dab of Ether. Just wanted to see it pop over and live for a second.

We took the rear axle out (BIG pita since it was spray painted and rusty) out and I polished it up on the lathe with the aid of a little sandpaper.

Axle installed with no accessories on just to see if it went on easily.

Mounted the electrical box to the frame. The on switch is on the left front and the start button is beside it. You can barely see it but that little button on the top is the kill switch. It is labeled "KILL".

Just a little side view. The seat lays back pretty far and we are going to put a quick release pin on the steering column mount. It will make it easier to climb in and out of the cart.

Got the caliper bracket mounted and the caliper bolted on. I need to mount the master cylinder and pedal assemblies up front and then have a custom line made up at my local rubber and gasket co..

Here are a couple shots of it all cleaned up and with the steering wheel installed. I am going to put an Eddie Lawson replica paint scheme on it, with the white green and purple.

because it is a turd. We just scrapped it last week. I took the motors off for other possible projects later......like maybe an overhead crane

We are an odd shop. We do high precision tool making and job shop style repairs. I do all of the precision fabrication and design most of our custom builds/projects for customers.

Got some updates!!

I made an exhaust system out of a new galvanized U of 2.5" and the pipes off of the bike. I also used a fart can off of my buddy's Honda

I machined some new flanges out of some scrap steel to start with. I also had to machine a couple copper exhaust gaskets and the slip on section to make the system a fastenerless two piece system.

I also have a short video of one of the first few startups. It needs tuning and adjusting badly. I will do that later though. Likely after it is all finished in function and tune it after I get it all back together on final assembly.
