Default Spring rate question

From what I read, stock ITR rates are 250F (linear) and 250R (progressive). However, I'm not sure how manufacturers rate progressive springs...or if there is a standard to rate them.

I'm guessing that it means the rear spring is at 250lbs at full droop and it then gets stiffer from there? Or is it rated 250lbs at ride height? It wouldn't make sense for it to be rated at maximum compression right before coil bind...so...which one of the above two is it?

Thanks.

250lb is the max rate of the spring. If you look, the progressive specs will be something like 115-250lb.

Don't over-think this too much.

What Todd said, although I think it's 160-246 or something? either way, 246 (or 250 if you want to round up) is the max spring rate of the progressive coil, and the spring rate of the front coil.

Cool. Thanks. The reason i asked is because I have a set of GC springs in 330lb and 380lb laying around. When the car comes out of storage, I was gonna throw those on the konis I just bought.

I'm figuring 330f, 380r.

But I was trying to figure out how the car was set up stock first, because it has a pretty good balance.

I figure i was going to track it while its all stock, and then install the koni/gc combo and see how it goes.

this theory has worked very well for me. I didnt want to stray too far from the OEM balance but wanted a bit more oversteer.

ERS 650 front and 700 rear with a 24mm adjustable bar in the rear. Perfect combo.
I think i need to up my rates though, the front dives quite a bit under braking. My rice boy wing balances out the light rear end, but a wing may not always be legal.

you do, the koni sports will go to 500lb in the rear without too much trouble. the fronts even more.

330/380 isn't bad and would be the way to go with those springs for a sporty drive. it would get rid of any understeer just be a bit soft.

i have 500/430 on sports now and it's pretty neutral. if i was doing autocross specifically i would switch the rates around

Sweet. I'll see how my "free" setup goes and go from there. I'm planning on tracking/autocrossing it all stock for the first couple times since I just got it and it's my 1st ITR. I bought it, drove it for 2 weeks and then stored it lol.

I'm just itching to get back out there. Seeing my S2000 on jackstands in the garage and seeing pics of my ITR on my phone every day makes it worse haha.

I'm rocking a stock civic EX currently. My gf is driving my itr swapped em1. I'm having no fun lol
