Default tranny compatibility

Hello all,

I have a 96 D-series automatic tranny that I bought. My ex is a 93 d series 1.6. When I bought the tranny the dude knew I needed a tranny from 92-95 however he sold me a 96. I want to know if a 96 is compatible with 93 motor? my mechanic just want to do a straight drop and wont install the tranny because he said that there are 2 extra sensors on the 96 tranny and my old 93 tranny has a kick cable and this one doesnt, he said the car might go slower and I wont have any down shift. Keep in mind this is an automatic. Other say just chang the rear t bracket and the tranny should bolt on and work just fine. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

The 96-00 Auto transmission is not compatible with your 93 Civic. The 92-95 used a throttle valve cable to adjust the line pressure in the transmission and in 96 they started using a linear solenoid. This solenoid is controlled by the PCM and the transmission will not function properly without it. It will be best to get the correct transmission for your car.
