Default ECU opinions.

My friend owns a '96 JDM ITR with an I/H/E setup. He is planning to change the ECU. What do you guys recommend? Mugen N1 or Spoon Sports Computer?

Please explain why you made such choice or recommendation.

Non-programmable standalones suck...

Vafc, or Power FC if you have the dough.

Between Vafc and Power FC there is a huge differnce in cost.

Does Vafc does the job better than a new ECU??

What sucks about having complete control over all your fuel and ignition settings?

Confused...

Isn't the Power FC a standalone?

I think he means non-programmable standalones suck! If you replace your standard ECU with a Mugan N1 or SpoonSport you are stuck with the program they have put on them, they may be tuned better then stock but they will never get the best out of you particular mods.

Between Vafc and Power FC there is a huge differnce in cost.
If your friens is considering a genuin Mugan N1 or SpoonSport then the cost of an A'PEX PowerFC is not much more (less then Spoon).

Prices at Taka Kaira
Mugan N1 126000YEN
A'PEXi PowerFC and FCCommander 133000 YEN
Spoon Sports Computer 144000 YEN

The PowerFC is worth every penny over the V-AFC.

The V-AFC gives you some fuel control and VTEC control, that's it!!!

The PowerFC gives you fuel control (map, RPM and PIM voltage), ignition control, idle control, vtec control, rev limt adjustment, injector replacement adjustment, acceleration enrichment adjustment. It can also be used for FI fueling and timing and boost control with an add-on unit.

OK I'm bais (read the sig)

Edit: Oops quoted wrong post

On a side note, i have a 96 JDM ITR motor and it doesnt have an LSD stampon the tranny. I was told that 96's didnt have the LSD stamp put on the tranny, do u know if this is true? I know mine is LSD b/c theres no pin in the differiential.
