Default Wise To Boost Stock 93 SI Motor?

I used the search function and jack **** came up. I am about to buy a 1993 Honda Civic SI hatchback from a guy in Florida. It has 82,000 original miles. This car is CLEAN. That's actually an understatment I don't know much about the Single Cam Vtec Motor. He offered to boost it for me for an additional 1k. He wants to put in a T3. How much power will this put out? Is it reliable? I might have to drive it back from Florida all the way to Arizona How long will this motor hold up, with the turbo kit? I personally don't think that this motor will put out worth ****. Should I just get the kit? or NO? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I would say buy the car as is then turbo it yourself, especially if you are going to drive cross country. Also if you do it yourself you will know it was done to your standards. good luck

I have a 93 civic si with 130,000 original miles and have had a greddy turbo kit on it running 7.5 psi for almost a year now. I have had no problems. It runs totally reliable i drive back and forth to Athens(2 hrs) and savanah(4hrs) from atlanta all the time in the mad georgia heat. then again i don't know how reliable this guys setup will be but 1k is a damn good deal. and awesome job finding a 5th gen Si with only 82,000 on it. They just happen to be my favorite civic. 5th gen Hatches rule!!!

My EX has the same motor. I've been boosting between 5.5 and 9psi, intercooled for about 1000 miles now (right at 102kmiles, total). and I haven't had any probs with the motor, just things caused by my jack-***.
