Default Remote Start Recommendations???

I am looking into a remote starter for my 2001 Honda Accord and seeing if there are any recommendations for brands? I am looking for remote starter with no alarm. I would like to use my current factory car alarm, and simply add a remote starter. Also, if anyone knows if there is a write-up on how to install these, that would be a big help. Thanks, and I searched "remote start" and got nothing specific about this.

Eh, the factory alarms are really crappy.

Personally, I had a Python 990 which I wired myself and worked great. I had a glass break, shock, digital tilt, mercury switch, and some other stuff attached to it as well.

Had good range and just had to bypass the clutch switch.

I'd recommend reading through the Audio/Security/Video section on HT. I found the wiring guides through a combination of the DEI installation manual and that forum section along with like Crutchfield's website if I'm not mistaken.

Python/Viper/Clifford are all pretty much identical FYI, they're owned by the same parent compant (DEI) and are really just cosmetic differences between them.

Good info, thankyou, I will look through there. Its a DD and im not concerned with upgrading the alarm or anything, just want to start the car from the house before venturing out into the cold. Located in Pittsburgh, and just got our first snow.
Thanks.... how hard are these to install? Im not good with electrical, although i have installed a few head-units and systems.... Car is automatic too so does that mean it will be easier to install?

I did mine over Spring Break during college and took 3/5 days to do it from scratch.

That was with a lot of tucking/hiding/etc with most of the car in pieces lol. Doing the alarm and everything else was a lot of work, I'm not sure if just the Remote Start would be 20 times easier and what is required but I did a nice hidden alarm install. I would not recommend it for a novice. I did electrical engineering as a major and hated doing it.

I have a 99 Accord my wife drives, and wanted to put a remote starter/keyless entry system in for Christmas. Went to Best Buy, and the $200 package deal turned out to not work in the car, only the $300 deal--I don't think it was a bait and switch but the guy said that older cars (including ones with immobilizers) were problematic.

Ideas? Greatly appreciate any responses...thanks!
