d16z6 or b18b1 need advice
i have a 93 del sol with a d16z6 that is about to go. im debating whether i should replace it with another d16 or go for a b18b1. ive done research on this but cant seem to find answers because everyone just talks about turbos. This is a DD car and i drive long distances up and down big mountain grades. would a b18 be better for me? or if i do a d16 is there anything i can do to it to make going up the mountains easier? i think for the b18 swap i need the motor, mounts, axels and b16 linkage right? also if anyone has a del sol with a b18 i would like to know how it drove and if the swap is worth it. thanks.
b18 would definitely do better climbing and if you are staying n/a the b18 has way more room for bolt on power! d16 will have a bit better gas mileage but i'd go b18 and later lsvtec! and you need ecu, mounts, axles and b16 linkage for DEL SOL only teg linkage won't fit! good luck with the swap.
Define new/rebuilt. If you are buying a rebuilt engine, it should seem like the motor has been opened. Of example, take a look under the valve cover, and pull off the oil pan. If it doesn't look new, or newer,(No browning) ask who built it, and assembled the motor. Better to find out that your buying a rebuilt motor, than a motor that has taken a turn for the worse. Good luck.
well heres the link to what the rebuild is... its done by a place here in san diego where i live so i will actually be able to go see the engine in person and inspect it. does that look reasonable. i dont know much about rebuilding and all that stuff. im still pretty new to the car thing but its fun.
