98 Civic - fuel cut between gears at 1/2 tank of gas

So i just got 1998 civic and it has a d motor...witch i know is gay...but for the moment it works...untill i can do a b18c1 swap. but when i reach 1/2 a tank i get a fuel cut between gears...got any ideas on what it could be?
