Icon2 92 Civic/d15b - Will the D16Z6 valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals work?

Hi, I have a question about valve cover gaskets for a d15b. I now know after running shop to shop, that the d15b gaskets are hard to find and the b7 version is WRONG! I saw that the d16z6 valve cover gasket works just fine. BUT are the SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS from the z6 compatible for the d15b vtec? They just dont seem to fit flush. When I put them in they more or less just rest perfectly in the grove but not deep in the well and the rest is exposed. My question is ARE they supposed to be flush in the opening or are they allowed to be out of the hole by maybe a half inch. I would use my old O rings as an example but they were burned and ruined.

Any help at all would be appreciated. Maybe I am not using the correct spark plug seals or something.

What D15B do you have? Vtec, non vtec? OBD1, OBD2, dual carbed?

The OBD1 vtec version uses the same head and valve cover as a Z6.

Thats an OBD1 D15B Vtec. It takes Z6 tube seals, whatever you have just doesn't look right. Order them for a '92 - '95 Si and you shouldn't have any problems. You can get them along with the valve cover gasket from honda as a kit for not very much money.

I actually figured it out and I will post pics so future d15b vtec owners don't have the same problem. BASICALLY the metal ring inside the spark plug tube seal over time (I guess through heat and over use.) Worked its way out of the rubber housing and melted itself to the openings. All i needed to do was work around it with a screw driver and a hammer bend/break/twist them out and pop in the new ones. They went in snug and flush. TRUST ME they looked like they were a part of the actual valve cover they were so melted. Earlier we had scraped the remnants of the old rubber out and it looked to be done. NOPE those metal rings hindering the tube seals from resting completely in the well are NOT part of the cover. Thank you for your responses to my post :D
