i got a 1992 honda civic hatchback with the jdm 1.5 vtec. it has aftermarket headlight and hids now and since i put the hids on my car has been acting up. i drive fine in the morning but at night the car starts to lose power and misfire everntually turns off.
is it the hids or is something else draining my battery and alternator because i ran the car in the morning with the hids on and everything but for some reason it only happens at night?

 

those things burn alot of power, could be bad bulbs (Ebay HIDS) or inproperly installed

 

i installed them right and the bulbs are good name brand ones.

 

Do you have a harness on the hid kit that connects to your battery?

They dont use more power, 35w<55w. I would definetly use a wiring harness to power them though.

 

Your car is obviously scared of the dark.

Ditch the headlights and HIDs, return back to stock and grab some upgraded bulbs. Aftermarket HIDs are all crap. Period. No matter what anyone else will tell you.

Found the problem appernently it wasnt the hids my alternator cable was burnt to sh*t so the alternator wasnt working right. hopefully that is the only problem. thanks guys.

 

This simply is not true.
There are many quailty kits. You likely bought cheep **** and now you are all but hurt.


Op, while you are at it, have your alt and your battery tested and replace if needed.

 

well the hids are a good brand and plus i already changed the alternator and battery and alternator cable and the car is fine thanks for you input though.
