The switch that changes the air from hot to cold is so hard to move on mine. I took a look at it and since its operated by a cable i figured thats how it should be... Although i dont know why it would be so hard to move? Any suggestions?

mine has pretty decent resistance also.. I bought my car brand new and its been like that since day 1 so I think its just like that...
