Default Buying ECU From Acura

Since I am having a hard time locating a 1998 USDM ITR ECU (Part #: 37820-P73-A03), I am thinking about buying one from acuraautomotiveparts.org.

Have any of you guys ever bought one from Acura? It's about $530.

Would Acura still stock the ECU's?

Not if you have emissions testing and they hook up to your OBD-II port. You're gonna fail, really quick.

Exactly what I need it for...emissions testing.

Also, I need a 1998 because newer years have the immobilizer in them.

I was just wondering if you can just buy an ECU from Acura like any other part. Like is it a part where you will have to supply a VIN?

A P72 will look for IAB's in which my engine does not have. Won't I get a CEL?

NO. ECU's are not controlled parts. you can order them over the counter with no info at all.

btw. A03 ECU's are everywhere. i know cuz im looking for an A02, and all i find are A03 and A14 lol.

pretty sure IAB is a softcode, not a hardcode, won't throw a CEL

They're secondary "butterfly" valves inside a GSR intake manifold.

a02's are the most rare and get at least $200

a03s use to be everywhere and i even bought one for 150 once. i haven't seen any usdm ecu's on ebay besides a04 in a long time though. i would think the gsr ecu would pass if you switch it in the parking lot. if they just do a plug in and call it good you shouldn't set any faults until you drive it for a few minutes
