They dont make a bumper for my car... lets make one!! (non-honda)
Im in a bit of a bored debauckle here. My daily driver is a 2001 Infiniti Qx4, Ive been driving it with a primed bumper since I was supposed to get an aftermarket one made but that fell through. Heres what Im starting with

Basically, they dont make an aftermarket bumper for this car, I hate how the front is higher than the sides and it curls under on the front and side. I want a more dropped, and aggressive looking front. I am willing to cut/glass/plasticweld anything you guys can think of. But I need help on a good base and where to start
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Im going for this kind of look, I like as few lines as possible, but I think an inch or 2 lower lip aswell as filling in the sides of the bumper with aggressive lips and flares on each side would really fill it out...
I think the hard part may be the body line on the side of my vumper though how it has the hump to follow the wheel arch curve, you can see it a little in the pics that show the sides of the bumper.
How would you guys go about doing this kind of a project??
Appreciate any criticism

Hack together the parts you need from each bumper design and rough out the body work. Smooth it the best you can, without worrying too much about finished quality or durability... just make sure everything is straight and fits the car. The best way to do it is to mount the basic OEM bumper to your car and make the modifications on the car. Build it just how you want and then take it off and make a mold. Back-mold it and create the new bumper entirely out of fiberglass or if you have the resources - ABS or whatever else. You then do the finish work to the fresh 'one-off' bumper.
It's a very in depth process that you're asking about, but that's basically how you do it. Research custom mold making and custom auto part fabrication. Google is your friend. lol

Im really kinda set on not making moulds or anything.
Id really like to buy maybe a lip kit, or even a bumper for a whole nother car if I have to. Attach the hopefully good looking and closely shaped pieces to the bottom of my bumper and go to town with the fiberglass.
The bumper will be bedlined like it is in the pictures I posted, I live on a 14km gravel road, paint doesnt last on our front bumpers lol
Im just not quite sure how to go about what piecs to buy, was hoping for some help with that, maybe a certain car or kit or measurement I need to make this job easier without hacking to much

It was already explained to you. What you want to do is a HUGE job and it seems like your not willing to put in the work.
Yeah, you don't seem to understand the scope of what you're asking. Go to some junkyards and dig around and see if anything catches your eye if you don't want to do very much custom work....no way around some sort of work or improvisation, really.
I get its a huge job. Im in for a huge job of fiberglass shaping and filler. What Im asking about is should I buy a bumper from another car, probably an aftermarket for the aggressive type look I want. Cutting the botom off of it then glass it on??Or do they sell sides or large 4+" bottom lips that I can shape onto the bottom of my oem bumper perhaps
I know its alot of work, but your method involved moulds and such, not looking to make any sort of mould

You have to make a mould. You're not going to get fiberglass to stick to your plastic bumper and hold up for any period of time. Same goes for slapping filler on plastic, also a failure.
You dont need to make a mould. Have you even done fiberglass, it sticks to anything when prepped right
Thats not the question

Go join www.fiberglassforums.com and take a look around, I know there is a guy who just made a whole new bumper and hood for his scion tc and it came out REALLY nice looking once he was finished
At least on the website you will get some good ideas and even better knowledge about proper fiberglass technique and supplies, Also when you do use fiberglass DO NOT USE TAHT BONDO BRAND ****, order your materials from www.uscomposites.com and you will be MUCH happier while working with it

Have you considered getting another OEM bumper and taking a section from that? It will follow your body contours and would be a good base structure if you want to add on.
Think I could make this front bumper work with its pieces?? Its for sale locall, i like the bottom lip profile and could just cut off all the vents and only use the bottom 5" or so of the bumper.... hmmmm
He said its only 58" wide across the bottom end to end though, I think my bumper was 66" I'll have to remeasure that a bit better though I think
EDIT: You seem to know a lot about it though, have at it, show me how it's done!

Did you fall and hit your head as a child? It seems like it to me. YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE A CUSTOM BUMPER. ANYTHING CAN BE MADE TO FIT WITH THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF WORK. Which you don't seem to be willing to do or have the knowledge to perform. This is a sinking ship.
Isn't it possible to make a bumper with some 22g sheet metal and some metal working skills? theres this huge thing in the shop that Ive seen some guys use to make body lines into the sheet metal. And ive seen a body man make a qp out of scratch with a plama cutter and a hammer.
I think you should either fab up your own lip, or but a fiberglass lip of some kind and cut and glass it. If it's of any help, you can see how I did this for my front bumper....
