Default Idle problem!

Hi everyone,

Had a search couldn't find anything specific to my problem, I recently had to replace some of the hoses on my engine so while the coolant was out I removed the IACV to clean it out. Followed the guide on here exactly except I used intake and carb cleaner instead of brake cleaner, and let it dry out for 2 days indoors, then reset the ecu.

Now the car hunts around 1200-1500, whereas before it was fine most of the time just idled a bit high on occasion so I'm stumped why a cleaner IACV is causing more problems, I guess if it aint broke don't fix it

Also might be worth mentioning that my throttle cable is a little loose but this should make the idle lower if anything!

Heres a pic of the IACV after I cleaned it if it helps:

The car is a 96 spec JDM DC2 Type R

Thanks in advance,
Hitmo

What other hoses did you disconnect? Is that small hose at the backside of the manifold closest to the alternator connected? Its pretty easy to miss.

You sure the gasket was there when you put it back on? Is it tight?

These are the 3 hoses I replaced, upper rad hose and the 2 oil cooler hoses that go on the back of the block just above the oil filter:

I'm 100% these are on right and I don't think I disconnected any other hoses but I'll doube check tomo.

I think so, although I didn't pay much attention to it as it was stuck in there pretty tight and didn't fall out while I was cleaning it, might replace it anyway just to be on the safe side.

Bought a new gasket from Honda and fitted it then reset the ecu, no change. Also got the car up to operating temp and disconnected the iacv connector, the car dropped from about 1400 to 1200rpm so it should be working properly, does that mean I have a air leak somewhere? I've checked all the hoses that go to the throttle body and inlet manifold, they're all on nice and tight :S

What else could I try? Do ITRs have FITVs?
