I have a car with a Rusto-paint job.... barf.
So I am going to sand it all down, but not at the point of even bringing it to Macco or anything.
If I then rattle can it, can I get it painted afterwards, or would I have to sand it down, again?
Just curious. Otherwise I will just improve the Rusto job and sand it all off once I am ready for 'real' paint.

even if you were to use the rattle can primer made for cars like krylon or rustoleum (exeption to primer that you would get at wesco), you will get a nasty chemical reaction when you try to spray actual paint on top of it.

Personally I would say an oil base rustoleum base would be better than any water color paints. Just 2 part urethane clear over it like you would over water born crap. If that water paint isn't 1000% dry, in a nice freeze it will blister, how do I know that?
Remember water crap paint has no activator its just simple air dry.
The mention of a reaction spraying over such paint? That is what a primer sealer is for. You just want what ever is laid down first to be done on ultra clean and sanded surface, and yes if you can't trust who ever spray canned it then it has to go.
