1990 honda civic si hb legal mods
so i live in california and im trying to mod my motor right now i have a cold air intake if there anything else i can get for my motor thats smog legal? the motor is a d16a6 please help me!
thanks
thanks
CARB Legal Intake, Header, Turbo Kits, and MSD Ignition is pretty much all you can do, but i think you would still fail visual inspection.
That's the general idea right there, whatever you modify on your engine for more power has to be CARB approved. If it's not, then it's not legal.
Thats why I love Texas. I have never had a cop pop my hood for any other purpose than to check for stolen engines. I was driving back from the track one night in a CRX with full slicks and a a turbo b20 of death. All I got was a ticket for my license plate light being out.
depending where you live in cali some cops couldnt care less on what mods you have and wether they are legal or not... lived in cali my whole life and have never gotten a ticket for any mod i ever had wether it was a motor swap or something as little as an intake. by the way on carb legal alot of them will say 48 state legal, make sure ca is one of them! my advice to you is to keep anything you swap out cause every two years when you have to re-do your smog check they will come in handy!
I dont know what part of cali you live in but I wish I was there. I've got tickets for exhaust being too loud, ilegally lowering under like 21-22 inches (18''), no carbed intake/header, no name fuel rail, I even got a ticket for no horn. Cali doesn't play around when it comes to that isht, they're straight **** about it.

i think the only legal mod you can do to a car in cali is fuzy dice on the rear view mirror. oh wait you cant even do that youll get a ticket for obstruction of view. and you cant pass smog with carb legal stuff it has to be stock. atleast thats how it is in the town i live in. oh ya and if you missing the sticker on your tranny guess what its stolen and the cops are gona take it. it seems to be getting better as far as hondas now that there not as popular as they were.
i save my money and get b-series motor that is legit and have proof of purchase and get it bard. just remember b20's cant be bard in your civic. you can spend as much money as you want on carb legal parts on your d-series your still wont get the satisfaction you want from your car.

The GSR swap in stock trim will offer awesome performance gains over the single cam. You can still upgrade the GSR swap w/CARB legal bolt ons when you decide its time for more power. I can't say it enough...save your money and do the GSR swap the right way and you won't reget it.
lol forget carb legal. nothing that significantly increases performance is carb legal. Honestly I feel that you could have a turbo k20 under the hood. But the following applies: Loud exhaust = Lots of attention ; Driving like an idiot = too much attention. you get the idea...
