ABS problem on a 2001 Accord
My friend has a 01 Accord 2.3, and the ABS light is on. I'm not able to scan the abs code because my actron abs reader does not read imports. My friend brought the car to a shop and here is what the tech found and wrote on the work order sheet.
* Left front wheel speed sensor is open to ground, cost $215.00
* ABS control unit (memory short) $360.00
*ABS Modulator (out of spec) $1,550.00
The car has 90,000 miles, is it common for the ABS control unit and the ABS modulator unit to be bad on Honda's? What does it mean, the memory short of the ABS control unit? And out of spec for the ABS Modulator? Has anyone here had any ABS problems like this? It is hard to believe that these parts are already bad. My friend does not have this kind of money to spend. Any suggestions?

get the actual trouble codes, then go from there. They should be "C" codes, such as C1225. You need an actual code to start a diagnosis. check the abs wiring at points on the control arms where the wires flex. i just repaired a chevy impala the other day that had a broken wire where it flexed around the front lower arm. easy fix if you can find it. I doubt all the ABS parts are bad. always start with a trouble code first. see if the shop will provide that info. after all, he paid for them to pull the codes, so he has a right to know what they are.
