Default 96 LX non-vtech on throttle shudder

I have a situation with what feels like a shudder that presents itself during off idle accel and continuing through to 2nd up until about 3.5K. If i get on it a bit harder it's more noticeable. Beyond that point it seems to clear up or isn't felt, whether or not it's still there i don't know. This issue seems to come up more prominently when not fully warmed up and then colder conditions. It also seems to randomly happen and not follow either of those conditions too. It feels similar to almost a clutch slip but i can tromp on it in 5th with no slip whatsoever. I feel i can rule out the clutch, unless i have a pad or rivet that has worked itself loose.

I have installed new plugs wires cap rotor valve cover gasket and it did not help.

I have also cleaned the IACV FITV Injectors and TB per the tutorials. This did help with a lean condition coming off idle that has helped all around but this shudder is still very much present.

I feel like this is still almost an ignition issue cutting out, a poor connection that is being affected with colder temp/moisture? Possible problem with the ignitor?

I look forward to any help, much appreciated
~Gavin

Humm....how many miles? If you accel hard/semi hard thru the gears do you get the same feeling.

just today when i was driving i can feel that shudder all the way to 4th. I think what is happening is it's present all the time and i am only feeling it in the lower RPM's.

Are there any sensors that are directly related to the ignition advance? Any common problems honda had with these engines?

I'm not sure what type of ignition advance these engine have, i'm gonna look into that and check my timing out.

Anyone know if the timing advance curve is load dependent or RPM?

Ok, it's late for me so don't take this the wrong way. Have you serached for or about the egr ports/valve cleaning, and I don't like guessing. Yes this could still be another issue but it's my thought at this time. That is one of the reasons I asked how many miles were on it. You said something about a "lean condition", are you getting or have any stored codes?

Ok. Serach for egr port cleaning and the issues it can cause. If nothing else this should almost be part of regular maint.

No codes....darn.

Just to confirm. This does feel or is engine related and not driveline related...correct.
