i would put the type r, save money, then continue a build with the type r. because a fully built type r is faster then a fully bult gsr. based on who bulds it of course.

if you got the money my friend type r is the way to go you will have to make sure you get a obd1 ecu and everything not the 98 spec + one to make it easier on yourself. A gsr will still rip in a da of course.

I'd go with a B18C from Hmotorsonline. The Type-R is a great motor, and comes with a good tranny but is a little more pricey and if your going to build your going to be upgrading everything any way so stick with a GSR unless you plan on keeping it stock. Just my 2 cents.

FYI its not just the ECU to smog a JDM Engine. You will have to get the intake manifold and some sensors etc. Sometimes they even Bi*** about the CAT and some other stuff like O2 sensors.

Are you talking about getting BAR'D in CA?

Im sure you don't have to do all of that just to pass an amature shop for emmisions, but that wouldnt make it street legal.

I always thought it was the best plattform to go2.

ITR is a great engine, but its quite expensive. You can make the GSR quicker with the money left over

type r's are only a tiny bit cooler than gsr's in my opinion. Both are old now and the bigger better k makes the differences between the two not worth the money anymore. Just go gsr and use the money you save on some bolt ons and headwork. You'll make type r power.

Hey I just bought a 93 integra gsr with 180k miles with a blown head gasket for $900. Original engine, trans, ecu. I pulled the valve cover off timing belt broke because engine hydro locked when head gasket blew...snapped timing belt...so bent valves in cyl 1 and 2 on the head....the guy i bought it from let the car sit for 4 months in the drive way so when i pulled the head there was rust in the block cyl 1 and 3....i am going to swap my b16a2 in it for right now to daily drive but should i just sell the block and head as is and save up for a type r swap or keep this stuff because its so rare and just rebuild from the ground up? Your suggestions would be appreciated... thanks
