1992 DB2 Integra GS-R Motor Swap (HELP!)
alright so im 16 and i just recently bought a 1992 integra gsr but with no motor and tranny...i paid $800 for it nd wanna put a new motor in i was thinkin of puttin in a jdm b18c5 type r motor with a lsd tranny or shuld i just go with a gsr b18c1 motor nd with the extra money modify it to make it as fast as the type r
input on other motors would be appreciated also, thanks

i would put the type r, save money, then continue a build with the type r. because a fully built type r is faster then a fully bult gsr. based on who bulds it of course.
if you got the money my friend type r is the way to go you will have to make sure you get a obd1 ecu and everything not the 98 spec + one to make it easier on yourself. A gsr will still rip in a da of course.
I'd go with a B18C from Hmotorsonline. The Type-R is a great motor, and comes with a good tranny but is a little more pricey and if your going to build your going to be upgrading everything any way so stick with a GSR unless you plan on keeping it stock. Just my 2 cents.
yeah i like the 8900 rev line in the type r too i think imma go with that hopefully i have it done by april shuld i go jdm or usdm cuz of emissions i heard to get the jdm motor then the usdm ecu just for emissions
Are you talking about getting BAR'D in CA?
Im sure you don't have to do all of that just to pass an amature shop for emmisions, but that wouldnt make it street legal.
i dont mind if the car is street legal or not cuz im getting a new exhaust wid out the catalytic converter, i just wanna be able to register my car i mite just pay someone extra to pass me or sumthin

i decided what imma do imma just go with the gsr b18c swap with a lsd transmission and with the money i saved invest into some coilovers for the car......no point on having a real good motor with stock suspension, thanks for the help though, i will be making a build thread soon

ITR is a great engine, but its quite expensive. You can make the GSR quicker with the money left over
Gsr cheaper and not so much of a wallet ripper
ugh if u would of bought it with the engine and tranny you would already have a build ready engine to work on
because i have the same car as u
i bought mine for $500 with engine and tranny 149k Db2 1992
b17
yeah i would have loved to have the original motor for it, ive been trying to look for one but have had no luck so far, if i do find a b17 motor i will buy that instead
if i have to do the b18c swap what would i need besides the motor, ecu, transmission, and wiring harness?
i plan on doing this swap my self if not then with lil help.....thank you

type r's are only a tiny bit cooler than gsr's in my opinion. Both are old now and the bigger better k makes the differences between the two not worth the money anymore. Just go gsr and use the money you save on some bolt ons and headwork. You'll make type r power.
yeah if money wasnt an option i wuld hav just put a k24 from a tsx in the teg with jdm k20a2 heads nd lsd 6 speed tranny i just want sumthing decent for now, i kinda wanna get the car running nd on the road as soon as possible becuz i dont hav another car to drive rite now, the teg is gonna be my daily driver
Hey I just bought a 93 integra gsr with 180k miles with a blown head gasket for $900. Original engine, trans, ecu. I pulled the valve cover off timing belt broke because engine hydro locked when head gasket blew...snapped timing belt...so bent valves in cyl 1 and 2 on the head....the guy i bought it from let the car sit for 4 months in the drive way so when i pulled the head there was rust in the block cyl 1 and 3....i am going to swap my b16a2 in it for right now to daily drive but should i just sell the block and head as is and save up for a type r swap or keep this stuff because its so rare and just rebuild from the ground up? Your suggestions would be appreciated... thanks
