Get a tape measure and go outside and measure

Measure from hood to trunk and from mirror to mirror, and you’ll definitely have enough.

This also gives you enough extra in case you cut a piece wrong.

Same rule of thumb in construction.... Calculate what you need and bring in at least an extra 10%

Right, because you'll need at least an inch more to roll over to the back side.

What about the visors? I had gotten another set in decent shape when I did my headliner. How much of a pain are they to get redone? OP might could benefit from that info, too.

I would think they are a serious pain to redo... But I don't know vinyl. Need a vinyl expert.

Really, I think what would be really important information is what glue actually works to hold a headliner in place for 25 years of hot/cold dry/damp etc etc like OEM. This is the area I think I've seen the most complaints about with redoing headliners.

And to be fair to the OP. If OP is picking a custom material I can understand not wanting to get too much in a shot. When I was pricing out custom snake skin embossed (red and black) pleather and vinyl for my old red civic, the material alone was extremely expensive. Buying more than I would need would definitely be ill advised. The cost difference between plain black and the custom red/black snake skin was huge.

I have a 1997 4-door Honda Civic LX sedan, how much material would I need to buy to re-do my headliner?

I just re did my head liner and I picked up this roll of material! it was plenty enough for the head liner and I messed up but I did have just about enough material left for the sun visors but I made a wrong cut and ended up short but they will sell a extra yard if you ask them. If you want to see how it looks check my build thread, Im just going to use the left over material as a base under and use some basic black material from Walmart over it the same length 70" cost $4 at Walmart but the material does not have the nice foam backing like the Ebay one. Just make sure you use a good spray adhesive! the one I used was not good enough and a few spots are separating but I will re do it next week with better glue I'm going to try 3M Super 77.
