Any How-To threads on replacing a starter?
I have a 2000 Si that I think the started is shot on. It didnt start the other day and I had to pop start it. When turn the key I hear the FP prime. When I got it home the other night after popstarting it I turned it off and it started back up just fine. This was a few days ago. Now it won't start again......certainly sounds like the starter....no?
Starters are super easy to swap out. Might have to remove some intake piping to free up space, but there's a ground that you need to remove for the starter, a power lead and only like 2 bolts that hold it in. Really shouldn't be too big of a hassle, good luck.
could be the starter solenoid, could be the ignition switch. hard to say without testing the 12v terminal on the starter. if you get voltage and no cranky cranky, then the starter's bad. if you don't get voltage while key is in crank, ignition switch is bad.
and yes removal is easy. there is no ground wire because the starter itself grounds to the engine. remove the small signal wire and large heavy gauge wire the starter solenoid post. 2 bolts to get out. the one on the underside is a bit tricky, but isn't too bad.
