Default No start, no crank, one click

Just finished a HG change a few days ago. Car started and ran fine for a day or 2 and then suddenly after a quick stop home, it wouldnt start but would click once.

Battery voltage is fine, I tried jumping it and still nothing, only a single click. Checked batt voltage at starter and that was good. Had a friend hold turn ignition switch and checked the bottom terminal and only got .5 Volts. Friend had to run to work so couldn't completely verify reading.

I lightly hammered starter and tried again and same thing. I then sat in car and toggled key from "on" to "start" trying to hear where click was coming from and after several toggles, I heard the engine begin to crank and it started. So im leaning pretty heavily towards replacing starter or solenoid really but it all comes together i believe. Its gotta be poor contacts inside or something.

Am I missing anything?

How exactly?

Remove starter and apply battery voltage to both terminals?

Also check the transmission ground wire connections.

Had that once on a VW bug that I bought in new mexico... Drove it home to Toronto pushstarting the car every time for 3 days...

Then realized it was just the wire was not connected properly to the battery terminal. Could be indeed that your just not getting enough power to the starter. Could be the starter. Good luck with the test!

Ah... Noob memories... I'm still a noob.

Is your fuel pump kicking on? Just had similar issues with my 92 and replaced my main relay switch. Just a thought...

LOL, yea my bad Grumbles, I should know better but thx for the vid!

It was definitely the Starter. I could've waited until tomorrow and tried possibly repairing inner contacts ( https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/fix-your-starter-%245-%2410-no-special-tools-3043958/ ) , solenoid, ect but im just burnt out with car stuff after having just completed the Head Gasket change. So I gave in and bought a new one. Slapped her in and she's good to go!
