How to retrieve codes from a '93 JDM H22A Civic CX w/JDMH22A PCM?
I'm about finished with my JDM H22A to Civic swap; still a few more things to go.
I have a check engine light, and I can't figure out how to retrieve the codes. Does anyone know?
The only thing unconnected is the EGR Control Solenoid. If this is left unplugged, will it throw a MIL?
Thanks!

Leaving the EGR unplugged will cause the CEL to come on. I never hooked mine up on my swap either. I'm not gonna bother explaining how to check the codes because it's been cover 100000000times. Try a search for it.
I've searched, and on a Civic, you would jumper a two pin connector located down in the passenger lower right kick panel. Next, turn the key to the run position and the MIL light should flash out a code.
I did this, but the MIL light DID NOT FLASH.
Is the code retrieval process for the JDM H22A PCM different from that of a standard Honda Civic?
Well, maybe I'll just hook up the darn EGR control solenoid. And if this eliminates the MIL, then I know I have nothing to worry about.
Thanks anyways.

if its for EGR it wont flash a code, well mine didnt anyway, it comes on every once and a while but then goes off
you get the codes the same way you would on a stock civic. you will get a code for egr but not on startup. the car has to be on for about 10-15 minutes. have you started it yet?
Yeah, I've started the engine quite a few times. I've also let it idle for 15-20 minutes a few times.
The only thing is, the car is still sitting on jackstands. This Saturday I'll get the car road-worthy and take it out for the first time.
The engine idles perfect. On a cold start, the engine idles around 1100-1200 rpms. Once warmed up (3-5 min later) the engine RPM drops to around 800-900 rpms. No surging idle probs at all.
I just don't like that MIL light being on. I know one thing I can do is to cut A13 coming out of the PCM. This is the MIL output signal which turns on the MIL light on the dash. Maybe this will be a bad idea though.
I guess I'll road test it first, and I'll see how it runs. Still haven't had time to hook up the EGR control solenoid yet, I'll do this tomorrow. I'll run the vehicle with and without EGR....I'm wondering if there'll be a difference? I'll find out tomorrow.
Can't wait to get the thing out on the streets. It'll have NO exhaust system, exhaust manifold only.
