Rough idle, sometimes stalls?
I'm new to honda-tech, and i just got a 98 Integra GSR for 5000$. I figured it would need a little work, and i was surprised that it runs quite well. But sometimes when i push the clutch in and let the rpms drop the car wont catch it and it will just stall out. It starts immediately after, no problems with that. But ive noticed two things, the battery seems to drain, but i checked the alternator and it reads as charging properly. Also, i removed the IAC, and cleaned it, ive looked through the forums for fixes. Also from what i can tell all vacuum lines are in good shape and i cant find any leaks. Any other ideas? could the IAC just be shot? it doesnt allways stall, if i ease it down slowly it wont stall 95% of the time, and it only stalls 1 outa ever 3 or 4 times i let it freefall. but its still annoying. I left it running for about 15 minutes in the driveway and the rpms shudder a bit from time to time but it wont stall out. thanks for any info!
ok, the battery is off of another integra the dealer had since the one in it wouldnt charge, so i guess this one is out dated too... ok... so new battery and spark plugs or new battery, spark plugs, and spark plug wires?
Always start off with the cheapest. The battery you need, so definitely get that replaced.
Next up: The spark plugs.
Remove them and see if they look ok.
Next go to the spark plug wires.
Last but not least, to the cap and rotor, if need be.
Fuel filter should also be changed and check injectors to make sure they are not clogged and are getting power.

My car has the MSD Ignition system in it, including the SCI and Ignition coil... but as ive been looking around... apparently they dont make one for acura OR honda according to their website... so im a little confused
oddly enough if the timing belt jumps a tooth it will run exactly like that. after you trouble shoot the easy stuff keep this in mind if it won't go away. it's possible to jump a tooth or install a tooth off on one or both cams and get this situation

i was skimming through some things and they said i needed the MSD distributor, and wires, and to get new spark plugs and a battery... and if that didnt fix it then i need to have timing checked. Anyone know much about the MSD Ignition system?
the distributor is possible and if msd offers a distributor for a similar prices as a regular one that could work. wire wise. i really love msd superconductors but not on the integra. they don't fit the looms and don't offer any advantage over the ngk wires which fit just like oem.
timing is a real possible though. both ignition and cam timing can have a major impact on idle.
ill look into the NGK wires, but ive seen people saying that NGK wires arent good enough for the MSD power output? i checked the timing belt, and the gears are pretty rusted and the belt does look like its in good shape though. can i test my wires from the distrib to the sparkplugs some how? im picking up new plugs and a battery today. also, any particular spark plugs better for a gsr?
just a random question for future reference, does a turbo car need a bigger battery or better spark plugs etc? what all in the ignition needs to be upgraded?
