Trouble with valve timing
Noob here. Long time Honda owner, 6 under my belt (5 still here) with a valve timing problem. I just put in a new timing belt, followed all the timing marks, and the engine has no power. Feels very much like retarded timing. I checked the belt and its on all marks (crank slot is up, piston TDC, cam pulley "up" on top. However the valves are not seated. When I look at the cam profile several valves are clearly on thelobe "ramp" and partially open. I'm afraid to rotate the cam because of the clearance issues. How can the cam be at the TDC mark and valves open?
Valve lash too tight?? Check them. I just learned about this the other day in class that if its too tight, it'll cause the valve to open.
That or it might've bent?

Have you checked and adjusted the valves? Do you have a manual? If not get one and follow the directions on adjusting the timing, then the valves. Valves should be easy basically start with cylinder 1 at TDC, adjust intake then rotate to 180 degrees and then do the exhaust, another 180 degrees should get you at TDC for cylinder 3. Start with 1-3-4-2 as in the firing order.
