Accuracy Of newer Gauge cluster?
I Like the style of the EE Cluster but now with a new motor in it I am worried about the accuracy of the Tac. I will be racing it frequently and i dont want to over tac it.
BUT I WILL NOT PUT A HUGH RICER TAC INTO MY BABY!!!
Are the newer GSR cluster si clusters more accurate on the readings?
Or has anyone ever installed a performance tac into there factory gauge spot?
Or am i way over thinking this?

Ive always been under the impression that stock tachs arent very accurate as the needle goes up. Theres plenty of companies out there that make after market tachs that arent huge and ugly.
I would rather have it look completely stock in the inside. No additions what-so-ever.
But yes, if all else fail that is what i will do.

So far i believe it is correct. But i have nothing to base thast on. no comparison.
Plus with a brand new GSR i dont want to take any chances. I would rather not use my warrenty if possible.
891 more miles till my break in is over!

I dont see how the accuracy of a gsr or itr or even a ek si cluster would be that inaccurate. The itr has a factory rev limit of what around 9000-9500. I highly doubt honda would have made this ability for an engine and not have a somewhat accurate reading on the motor. I have seen a decent amount of cars that run newer clusters and they rev the **** out of their motors with no problems. I also havent heard of many people that still run the oem ef,ed,ee clusters and again rev those motors with no problems.
I dont see why you would need a aftermarket tach unless you were doing a full on race car.
Just my 2 cents

Im just looking for accuracy
thats all.
And i have to change my cluster anyway because its an auto cluster and if i'm upgrading, i want to get the best one
thats all.

People use a tach? I just listen to the motor then, got to be one with the car man. 7 years of racing and I have yet to shift in regards to a tach.
you can program the ecu to also use the check engine light as a shift light...or install a led into the cluster and use a msd window switch to activate it.
fyi the stock tachs are usually off a bit....but only a 200-300 rpm...my si tach is off from my autometer tach by about 300rpm in the higher rpm's.
