2002 odyssey ex idle problem.
So for the last couple weeks my moms odyssey will idle irratically when driven for a while. In the intake it sounds like a popping noise. A bunch of them then the idle will drop then come back up, do some popping then drop and come back up, etc. Once you turn the car off then back on it idles fine. I am not sure the last time a tune up was done. Just wondering if i should start there or if there is another problem i should be worried about. Thanks in advance.
If the CEL isnt on, it will be shortly. Likely that you have an IACV problem or the power steering pressure switch wires have broken. A quick way of fixing the IACV is hitting it lightly with a hammer. This USUALLY smooths out the idle. Otherwise take it to a trusted dealer to diag it correctly.
exactly what Cory said. For the record, I'm on my second replacement of the idle air control valve on my 02 Odyssey. Not particularly happy about that--it's got only 76K miles on it total. Wondering if I just got a bad first replacement, or if that's a weak part.
The first time I replaced it was at about 30K miles and 4 years (that was back when Honda happily accommodated silly repairs like this--under warranty miles turned the trick for me).

well this odyssey has seen many road trips its has over 130k not much has been done to the van. I guess i will have to start with the iacv. Thanks for the help.
